Bubba Wallace will miss Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series playoff race at Homestead-Miami Speedway after wrecking Kyle Larson during Stage 2 of last weekend’s race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
No points penalty or fine were handed to Wallace or the 23XI Racing team.
Filling in for Wallace on Sunday will be John Hunter Nemechek, who is currently competing for a championship in the Camping World Truck Series and will pull double duty this coming weekend.
Wallace’s action were a violation of both Sections 4.3.A and 4.4.C and E of the NASCAR Member Code of Conduct in the NASCAR Rule Book as Wallace not only intentionally wrecked Larson but proceeded to shove the 2021 Cup Series champion after exiting his wrecked vehicle.
“When you get shoved in the fence, deliberately like he [Kyle Larson] did, trying to force me to lift — the steering was gone, and he just so happened to be there,’ Wallace said after the wreck. “He never cleared me. I don’t lift.
Wallace issued an apology Monday evening for the incident.
