The beloved segment returns from yours truly. It’s been a minute since I’ve been able to get involved in listening to music at a consistent rate but I’ve found the time within my off days to get back into it.

Without further ado, here are the richest tracks of the week.

“Twin Flame” – KAYTRANADA, Anderson .Paak

The dynamic duo is back together with “Twin Flame” and this rate, I don’t know if Anderson .Paak will ever miss again in his career. You can tell just how much fun he has with music and there’s little I haven’t loved since his 2018 album Oxnard. Top-notch production from KAYTRANADA, which is no surprise and .Paak’s singing just continues to get better with time and I’m sure Bruno Mars has had a hand in that recently.

“Ce Soir” – Duckwrth, Syd

At this rate, I’m just disappointed that Duckwrth is still going as overlooked as he still is. He’s one of the most charismatic musicians out there right now and a true, high standard for the R&B and soul scene. He’s grown into one of my favorite artist over the last half decade and it continues here with this smooth, sexy collaboration with Syd.

“How Was Your Day?” – Stella Donnelly

There’s few things I love more in music than the infectious voice of Donnelly. Her debut album in 2018 Beware of the Dogs was a personal favorite of mine from that year. While the speaking passages won’t be up everyone’s alley, the hook is fun and I promise you’ll enjoy the energy she brings. I’m ready for the album, Stella.

“Times Is Rough” – Benny The Butcher, Heem, Rick Hyde & DJ Premier

The Griselda stable is the best thing going in rap right now and this is just another addition to the catalogue of what may be the best run for any faction ever? Benny, Conway the Machine and Westside Gunn are three of the best rappers in the business and “Times Is Rough” just goes to show Benny’s talent along with showcasing Heem and Rick Hyde.

“Swamp Bi**hes” – Doechii & Rico Nasty

A palate cleanser after a really forgettable and disappointing album from Rico. Doechii is a rising superstar & Rico is back where her best content is. This is a straight, in your face banger and it’s worth all of your time.

“Let It Happen” – Louis Cole

Definitely a track that caught me off guard. I was expecting a little bit of humor with how the video is shot but this is one hell of an emotional roller coaster. It’s a beautiful track and the progression rules. Cole’s falsetto might be off-putting for a lot but I like the minimalist feel to the song. It’s like someone taking a $1 microphone and just singing their emotions. This is a good one.

“hover like a GODDESS” – WILLOW

It’s nice to see one of the Smith siblings displaying their progression as an artist. This was a pleasant surprise. Willow’s vocals are dynamic and she’s got some range. I’m impressed. Take notes, Jaden.

“STEPMOM” – DACEY

I love some groovy guitar work and this song definitely has that. A band to keep your eye on because if this is how they go about their production, they’ve got something brewing for the future.
