Longtime IndyCar Series driver Marco Andretti announced on social media that he will make his NASCAR debut Oct. 8 in the Xfinity Series race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course.

He will drive the No, 48 Chevrolet for Big Machine Racing, which has been piloted by Cup Series drivers Tyler Reddick, Austin Dillon, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Ty Dillon throughout the 2022 season. Reddick gave the team its first win at Texas Motor Speedway in May.

Andretti competed full-time in IndyCar for 15 years, scoring two victories and 20 podiums. He won the pole for the Indianapolis 500 in 2020.

Over the summer, Andretti won the 2022 Superstar Racing Experience championship, beating Ryan Newman by eight points.
