The NTT IndyCar Series’ “Silly Season” has had its fair share of drama between teams trying to re-sign/promote their drivers for the next season against their will (Alex Palou and Chip Ganassi Racing).
On Thursday, there was no such fireworks as Ed Carpenter Racing re-signed Dutch driver Rinus VeeKay to a multi-year deal with the team.
Very happy and proud to confirm that I have signed a multi-year agreement with Ed Carpenter Racing. I look forward to fight for more poles, podiums and wins together! @ECRIndy pic.twitter.com/0AswRXoazX

“I am very excited to continue with Ed Carpenter Racing for what will be my fourth year,” VeeKay said. “Ed Carpenter gave me the opportunity to drive for the team when I came out of Indy Lights and has let me showcase my talents in an Indy car ever since.”
VeeKay is currently racing in his third season with ECR. In his first season, he became the youngest front-row starter in the history of the Indianapolis 500 at 20-years old during the 2020 season.
His only career victory came a year later during the GMR Grand Prix at Indy where he beat former Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean, who started on the pole, by nearly five seconds.
In 2022, VeeKay has one pole at Alabama, which he turned into a third-place finish, his only podium of the season. He sits 11th in the driver’s standings with 282 points.
The 2022 NTT IndyCar Series heads to the streets of Nashville for the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix at 3:00 p.m. EST on NBC.
