The MLB Trade Deadline is hours away and the Minnesota Twins got the day jumpstarted with the acquisition of Baltimore Orioles All-star closer Jorge Lopez.
The Twins hold the AL Central lead by just a game over the Cleveland Guardians and three games over the Chicago White Sox.
Minnesota has dropped four of their last six games and Lopez should help bring stability to a pitching staff that has surrendered 10+ runs in four of their last 12 games.
Lopez currently holds a stellar 1.68 ERA with 19 saves and 54 strikeouts.
While the Orioles are above a .500 record (52-51) and only sit 2.5 games out of a Wild Card spot, general manager Mike Elias is still in rebuild mode and got a nice haul from the Twins with four pitchers in LHPs Cade Povich and Juan Rojas, and RHPs Yennier Cano and Juan Nuñez.
